“Fisher Farms is a company that prides itself on being progressive. After 23 years of use our DOS inventory system was holding us back. We needed a system that would fit with our growth and direction and would allow us to take advantage of advancements in technology.

As a company we had been trying unsuccessfully to update our inventory software system. We spent the past 4 years working with other software companies and in the end had nothing but bills to show for it. We then found SBI and as of February 2008 we have been able to switch systems successfully! Our needs were for a system that was complex enough to handle our processes, flexible enough to keep up with trends in the market, expandable enough to grow with us, and easy enough to use that our company can function efficiently.

I now know how complex of a process it is to make a switch to new inventory software. SBI made it possible. They really understand our business, they have the expertise to fix problems as they arise, and they seem committed to the continued success of their product and the companies using it.

SBI is a company who has a genuine interest and background in our industry. Their enthusiasm and knowledge were obvious to us the first time we met with them. This truly sets them apart from their competitors.

I feel fortunate to have found SBI and we are excited to take advantage of the opportunities that SBI has unlocked for our company.” – Jeremy Burress

“Before we began using SBI, we struggled to fill orders entirely. It was impossible for the inside and outside sales staff to know what was happening in the fields. SBI handhelds have improved inventory visibility and now our staff knows what plants we have, how many are there, if are they ready to sell, and what they look like. Simply, it helps us to fill orders and broadcast a better availability” - Jon Reelhorn

Company Description:: Belmont Nursery utilizes SBI inventory and accounting, handheld inventory control and marketing manager. Jon Reelhorn was a critical SBI partner in enhancing the handheld inventory control many years ago. We have worked with him directly on many software improvements over the year. He takes a practical perspective on what it takes to improve the software for excellent results.

Specializing in wholesale growing and landscape distribution, Belmont Nursery caters to landscape professionals and retail garden centers throughout California’s central valley, central coast, bay area, Sacramento and Reno/Sparks in Nevada. They have a 10-acre distribution site that is stocked with plant material produced from three off site growing facilities, which they also operate.

“The SBI team has provided an exceptional level of service regarding the installation of the software system.

The sales presentation was thorough, and detailed notes were provided with the potential Johnson’s Nursery (JN) specific issues documented going into the project. JN and SBI knew what was expected of each other before the implementation began. Every team member has been courteous and responsive to our needs. Though our situation is somewhat unique being a grower of seedlings, liners, container, and B&B finished material combined with the sale of plants and hard-goods through Wholesale, Retail, and Landscape Installation SBI went above and beyond expectations to tailor the SBI system to our needs.

The hardware technician (Jesse) did an excellent job of preparing our existing equipment and getting the new equipment ready for the implementation.

The trainers (Peter & Natasha) did an outstanding job. They understand what we are talking about with industry specific language. Peter during his week of on site training brought ideas and suggestions from other companies and implementations to our attention to make our processes more efficient. I was so impressed at one point because I witnessed 2 training sessions occurring at the same time in 2 separate areas of the company on 2 separate issues. Even better the trainees understood it.

Though unforeseen issues have arisen throughout the project Team SBI has tackled every issue by providing a resolution or a prioritized timeline and plan for the resolution.” – Chad Johnson

Company Description: Johnson’s nursery came to SBI to pull all of their different business units together. They operate a large landscape install business, growing facility and a retail / re-wholesale yard. This combination of operations could not be handled on their previous software and many other software systems they studied.

The Johnson team and SBI worked together on enhancements to the SBI system to give them the ability to manage install jobs from bid to billing and manage on demand inventory needs for the main site and other sites. They now have the ability to pull up a summary on a job to see where it is in the process, what it was originally bid at and how it all ended. They can also now reserve inventory in the system for any one of their business operations and no longer are stealing inventory from each other. They are also one of the first to utilize a new site transfer screen that gives them multi-site management in one screen. The site transfer screen can be run for transferring to meet demand, digging to meet future demand or keeping yard inventory stocked at pre-set minimum levels by different seasons.

CW Nursery has been in business since 1975. They are located in the middle of California where the north and south markers meet. They have 35 acres of containerized plants from liners to 24” box and grow annuals, perennials, shrubs, vines and trees.  CW Nursery serves independent nurseries, brokers, landscape contractors, and chain stores, delivering to Bakersfield all the way to Fort Bragg.  They went live with SBI

Nursery Software in March 2007, launching the software three months after new ownership, in the heart of spring sales, and did a record spring in sales.

“We survived with the help of SBI support. They were always there for us and got on any problem I had. The greatest asset I feel that SBI Nursery software has brought to our business is the ability to maintain an accurate inventory. Having the handheld has saved me so much time; it cut my weekly availability time in half. Using ready dates has been valuable in that any person that has access to SBI can answer an availability question. We don’t have to go out into the field and check quantities. The computer tells us what plants are in a current ready date, future ready date, to production ready dates. I feel SBI Software is user friendly.” – David Remmer
